Cadet Training Centre at Beckingham Camp in Lincolnshire—a visionary new build designed for the future generation of Army Cadets. This project, led by Bennett Construction in collaboration with developer General Projects and investor Neo Capital, is set to redefine sustainable, low carbon construction while providing state-of-the-art training, accommodation, and amenities. The facility will house up to 150 cadets alongside 30 cadet leaders and staff, with comprehensive provisions including dormitories, classrooms, kitchens, and expansive external training areas.
Facing a demanding project brief that required a high-performance glazing solution, the contractor needed rooflights that not only delivered exceptional energy efficiency and weather resistance but also fit harmoniously with the building’s traditional aesthetic. A key requirement was a robust, conservation-style rooflight solution that could be seamlessly integrated into the pitched roofs of the dormitory blocks, as well as the ancillary buildings, ensuring both safety and performance while meeting heritage guidelines.
EOS rose to the challenge by supplying a tailored range of conservation-style triple-glazed rooflights. Specifically, 15 units were delivered in a fixed configuration with structural openings of 1200mm x 2200mm and a sophisticated Goosewing Grey finish (RAL7038), complemented by one additional unit sized 1200mm x 1200mm. To address areas requiring modular design, EOS provided two modular units with 300mm upstands and a structural opening of 900mm x 3600mm split into three panels, along with two further modular units sized 1200mm x 1800mm split into two panelsin Goosewing Grey.
This bespoke solution not only met the stringent technical and aesthetic requirements but also streamlined the installation process, ensuring that the rooflights would integrate flawlessly into the existing structure. By delivering a high-spec, energy-efficient glazing solution that honours the heritage character of the building while embracing modern performance standards, EOS played a crucial role in creating a bright, sustainable, and inspiring environment for the Cadet Training Centre.
